It was near sundown when we reached the top. A close-up shot above.

Coron, Palawan

Coron is one of the jewel destinations in Palawan. My wife May and I had business in a nearby area but we decided to allot a day for a quick sight-seeing trip around this picturesque place. We arrived there late afternoon after being bumped off our morning flight then rescheduled for a much delayed afternoon trip, The first thing that we did was climb Mt. Tapyas and enjoy the panoramic view of Coron before the sun vanished into the horizon..

The next day, we went on a day tour where they brought us to the famed Kayangan Cove. This is the iconic image of Coron where tourists are brought then proceed to climb up a trail to get to Kayangan Lake for a dip in its clear, cool and refreshing water.

After more island sightseeing, snorkeling among the corals and at a sunken ship, it was time to call it a day as we were tired and burnt from the sun. Our boat soon took us back to the pier where I was able to take this last shot before retiring back to our hotel.

Below are more photos of the incredible views of several islands you'll be seeing if you go around Coron.

Our tour included a sumptuous lunch in one of the secluded beaches like the one above.

Just before we reached the top, a sliver of sunlight broke through the clouds for a moment. I quickly snapped this divine scene before it disappeared. Talk about being in the right place at the right time!.

It was a harrowing 720 steps up Mt. Tapyas for us especially for me as I had to lugged around my camera gears. I think I need to exercise again as my body and breathing strained to reach the top in a race against the sun.  Our efforts were soon rewarded when we saw this grandiose scene of the outlying  areas.
