Aliwan Festival

It was my first time to enjoy this annual grand event that gathers different cultural festivals of the Philippines.  Dubbed as the "The Mother of All Fiestas," this event is held at the Star City Complex and along Roxas Boulevard where contingents compete in different activities such as dance parade, float competitions and a beauty pageant.

Started in 2003 by the Manila Broadcasting Company and the Cultural Center of the Philippines, together with the cities of Manila and Pasay, this event aims to showcase the different Filipino cultures and heritage to Metro Manilans and to the rest of the world.

Members of our camera club were visibly excited as the parade started. We quickly dispersed along the festival route so we could get the best possible views. Needless to say, we had fun the whole afternoon capturing the unfurling spectacle. The photos here are just samples of this vibrant and colorful event that many have enjoyed and participated in. Till the next one!
