Pawikan

Went to the Pawikan Conservation Center in Morong, Bataan with my Olyclub buddies as part of our club activity. The Center aims to save these endangered marine reptiles by collecting the eggs from the beach and placing them in the safety of their hatchery - away from poachers and predators. Once the baby turtles are born, they are released back into the sea with the hope that their numbers will be replenished.  If ever these baby turtles grow to maturity, they'll come back to lay the eggs of the next generation.

What is surprising at the Conservation Center is that the caretakers there are former poachers who have abandoned their old ways as atonement and to help these intriguing sea creatures.
